Vincent and Theo: The Van Gogh Brothers by Deborah Heiligman

informative reflective sad slow-paced

2.75

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, I could not wait to be finished. The telling of the story felt like it took up twice as many words as it needed to. On the other hand, this book accomplished what nothing else had before--made me curious to learn more about the lives of famous artists. I've never had much interest in famous artwork, but it should have occured to me before now that learning the stories of the people behind the paintings might give me the context I need to take more interest in the art itself. I'll certainly look at Van Gogh's paintings differently now.
