Murder at Cookie Lane by Karen Sullivan
4.0
This was the first book in the Cookie Lane cozy mystery series. It stars Cat Kelley, who owns her own cookie and coffee shop named Cat's Cookies. The prior owner of the shop, Beth Walters, had gifted the shop to Cat and was very close to Cat, acting as almost a surrogate mother to Cat. When Beth is found dead in the river, Cat is suspected because Beth had recently changed her will and made Cat the sole beneficiary. Cat helps the police investigate the case, trying to clear her name. She deals with many of Beth's snobby and rude relatives, as well as a stranger who has been hanging out near the docs recently. She sticks her nose in many places it shouldn't be, but luckily the head detective doesn't give her too much guff about it. All in all this was a fun read, and I will read more in this series.
