Here's the thing: I am sourly disappointed by this book.
I quite liked Kelly Barnhill's "The Witch's Boy" but I didn't like this one.
1. It was ever so slow
2. The characters didn't speak to me
3. too much description
4. Identity crisis, was this really middle-grade?
5. Very repetitive
6. Could've been 100 pages shorter
7. Not exciting
Some of these cons go hand in hand but that's beside the point, I don't feel like this book is worth the read. The only characters I liked was the adorable Fyrian and Ethyne; let me tell you there are a lot of characters. I had to get the audiobook at 209 pages because I just couldn't plow through. The only reason I bothered finishing it is that I wanted to know what was going on, like was anyone else confused the whole time?
Also, why did it seem like every character had amnesia and could sense countless things? And at the end, we still don't get an explanation for some things. All in all, I would not recommend this book but if you still want to give it a try, don't waste your time reading physically; use the audiobook 9/10 experience.
