Brass Carriages and Glass Hearts by Nancy Campbell Allen

4.0

Emmeline O'Shea is an activist fighting to bring voice and acceptance to those left on the edges of society, primarily predatory shifters. Unfortunately, with her line of work, she makes quite a few enemies, those who would rather that society stay the same. After one particularly nasty death threat, Detective Oliver Reed, Emme's nemesis, is assigned to be her body guard. Better watch out though, with the amount of time they're stuck spending together, Emme just might start finding Detective Reed rather tolerable.

This was a cute story. It was very predictable, and not my favorite book of the series. Even so, I still found the read very enjoyable. For some reason, I think good steampunk romances might just be comfort reads for me. I just find them so relaxing and fun to read. Perhaps it's the wittiness and comedy of manners mixed in with elements of fantasy and high society.
