Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology by Shane Hawk, Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.
5.0
Some horror, some just dark and spooky short stories, written by Indigenous people across the USA and Canada and compiled into an anthology. These stories are good and creepy and absolutely delicious. and the cover art is gorgeous. Stephen Graham Jones writes the forward and captures it so well: a ghost encounter is interpreted very differently by a white person vs a native person. White people are just scared; natives have to figure out if the ghost is good or bad. I’ve definitely read some of these authors works before and coincidentally have Morgan Talty’s Night of the Living Rez sitting on my coffee table. The stories that have stuck with me the most: The Prepper, Sundays, Collections. Definitely a book I would reread.
