One Piece, Vol. 11: The Meanest Man in the East by Eiichiro Oda

adventurous emotional funny fast-paced

5.0

Volume 11 continues the big showdown between Arlong and Luffy! I loved how Luffy defended Nami and got furious when Arlong bragged about using her for her map-making skills. It's clear that Luffy sees his crewmates as friends and not tools to be used! 🥺 I also liked that Nami was able to reclaim her past by getting a new tattoo that represents her home and getting rid of Arlong's crew tattoo that has haunted her for too long!

I also loved the adventures in Loguetown! It's their last stop before the Grand Line and the place where the King of the Pirates - Gold Roger - was executed 22 years ago. Of course, Luffy wants to go see this place, but an unexpected foe reappears and wreaks havoc. There's also the marines who now know about Luffy's first bounty. I loved Captain Smoker, he is a hardened, powerful marine but seems to have a soft spot for kids! It was also funny seeing Zoro's interactions with Tashigi, a swordfighter who reminds him of his old friend Kuina 😂
