A fun quick read. August is scared of becoming a monster and having feelings for one. I enjoyed her inner turmoil throughout the book. She can see things others can’t and runs her supernatural business with an interesting group of allies. I don’t mind multi series books as long as I feel the author isn’t trying to draw it out for sales. Give me enough to be satisfied it’s a full book and I’m fine reading multi books. This first one did just that. The cliffhanger wasn’t bad at all which I appreciate even though I will be reading the second one right away.

Telarion was dark, deadly, possessive and surprisingly considerate at times. I loved him and the descriptions of his form. The romance was great through their bond and heightened feelings. I wasn’t a fan of the Incubus she used to sate her hunger but I let it pass since it was only a kiss and make out.

There were many questions and mysteries for the plot as well as a resolved case at the end. The world building was good too. I was a little worried once I found out the author wrote RH, but it didn’t say anywhere in the description and it was labeled as MF Romance so I’m hoping there won’t be any surprises because I really did like the main couple.

The writing is decent sometimes a little weak. There is info dump and telling instead of showing. The characters always make or break a book like this and for me they were enough to overlook the other things that would have bothered me if I didn’t like the couple.
