Okay, I think I found my first ever top pick for holiday re-reads! Amor Actually takes a delightfully loose play on the movie by the same name (arguably, I've only seen like a quarter of the actually movie). Infusing each tale with that blissful and hopeful feeling of the holidays where blessings, self-reflection and falling in love bubble in the air, readers explore nine inter-connected stories set around Christmas and New Year's that promise HEAs and holiday spirit.
And what is there not to swoon, smile and fall in love with in this book?! The unique Latinx representation, the Bi/Pan representation, Throuple representation, Lesbian and Queer representation, Multicultural representation, the healthy love representation and focus on continuous open and honest communication!!??. I usually have mixed feeling about anthologies because I am left wanting to see or know more about the characters in each of the individual pieces. The indirect and subtle familial ties of the characters readers get in Amor Actually is my new standard--hands down.
Even if readers pick up this book because of one author in particular, this book has bite sized pieces of everything from humor, spice, insta-love, friends to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, second chances at love stories. Amor Actually was such a satisfying read and I highly recommended it.
