The Story of a New Name by Elena Ferrante

MY GOD this book stressed me tf out!!!!! jokingly i told friends this is the university novel because it reminds me of who we were in college, unformed and insecure and PETTY. it was an intense experience and i relived a lot of my unrequited love (and subsequent angst) in lenu's narration, though of course ferrante and her translator, ann goldstein, work their magic and depict all these base emotions with elegance. the way the words land is just astounding. i had to keep pausing from sheer FRUSTRATION but what a ride this was.
