Alright this is where the Midscape series hits its stride big time! I was worried after the Fae one that I wouldn’t like it but I am glad to be wrong.
This installment of the world was much more interesting than the second, and even the first book. For me it’s cause the world building was on point! The books may all exist in the same universe around the same time, but this one was unique. Building up all of this lore (pun intended) around the Vampir and humans and their foggy history together was amazing.
I really enjoyed the character dynamics with the whole cast. They not only were trying to solve the main issue but also working through a lot of historic craziness together. The fleshed out group dynamics in this one really gave the story greater depth.
