The Uninhabitable Earth: A Story of the Future by David Wallace-Wells
4.0
the facts were relevant, but the writing was far too dense. beyond "I'm a journalist - admire my linguistic prowess" and more into "i've thesaurused everything as i can't be bothered to take the time to write accessibly"
i maintain that it takes the most skill to present complex ideas, social narratives and climate change facts in a readable way (note: simple doesn't mean simplistic). nonetheless, the first half full of doomsday facts is a bloody necessary reminder of what's to come; the second half is more think-piece like but i picked up interesting points about the narratives we construct around the climate crisis topic.
