I can’t say that I understood or related to a good portion of her work, but there were some that were truly outstanding.
Still I Rise
Ain’t That Bad?
On Aging
Caged Bird
The Lie
and Phenomenal Woman were some of my favorites.
In other poems, it felt like there was a huge generational gap. Issues that don’t seem so pressing like diet culture and respect for your elders.
Overall, I’m glad to have read this one!
