If They Come in the Morning...: Voices of Resistance by Angela Y. Davis

challenging emotional informative inspiring sad medium-paced

4.25

only reason this isn't a five star is b/c I feel like it could have included updated info for these cases and the different people involved. it felt like it ended rather abruptly, and a lot of these cases have been lost to time/aren't readily available to read about online.

still, this collection contained so much. I went into this knowing relatively little about angela davis and her arrest and now feel confident in my understanding of her case and the events that led to her incarceration. the essays, letters, and poetry in this book are still sadly relevant today and provide great insight into the history of the peoples struggle, especially black political and social justice movements.

highly recommended for anyone interested in prison abolition and the history of resistance and rebellion in america.
