Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

5.0

I started reading this book at 9:00pm, to wind down for bed. Ha! I kept reading until I had to talk myself into putting the book down, and then lied there restlessly until I was compelled to pick it back up. It's quite the page-turner!

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

The main complaint I've seen about this novel is that the ending is unsatisfying. I think it was perfect! It should have been unsatisfying. Amy could not be beaten, and Nick had to be a twisted hero. This is the only way it could have ended. Anything else would have been too contrived. No one wins. I imagine that years down the road, Nick will finally snap, or Amy will disappear for good. But for now, the way it ended was the way it had to end. Brava, Gillian Flynn!
