Algorithms to Live by: The Computer Science of Human Decisions
by Tom Griffiths, Brian Christian
Despite the cringy self-help type title, this book does a great job weaving a thread between human tendencies and the statistical realities the brain is trying to navigate. The book isn't afraid to admit when our natural behaviors are mathematically efficient--even if they appear lazy from the outside--and in these cases simply explains why that is, which is a satisfying exercise in itself.
