People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

slow-paced

3.75

This was my second Emily Henry book and I wasn't expecting something similar to Beach Read. I thought this would be fluffy and fun, like a palette cleanser from Beach Read, but I was wrong. SO WRONG. The only similarity was the covers were so misleading.
I wasn't ready for the push and pull of the relationship. I wanted them always to have happy vacations together, and eventually realize they loved each other. THAT IS NOT WHAT I GOT. I had to read about all the happy moments and the main character falling more and more for her friend, then I had to read about the present where they aren't in the same place and are struggling to find their friendship again.

It felt like it was pulling me to an end where they were not together. Like they were going to be friends in the end, but not as good as they once were. I thought their happy endings would be with other partners besides each other. Or maybe that was what I wanted? I had confusing feelings throughout this book. 🤣
