I went into this one a little blind so I was pleasantly surprised to realize this is kind of like a next gen for the Toronto Terrors! This was the first book in the Tilton U universe. It was fast paced with a boy OBSESSED but actually the girl was obsessed first LOL. We get to meet none other than Chase Lovett who is the hockey god of campus. He lives in the same dorm as Cammie who is low key obsessed with him. She has been from a far for a while. When an incident happens to their dorm, they end up being assigned as roommates for the night at a hotel which is when the fun begins. I loved reading about our super extroverted knows everyone and charming Chase as he fumbles through trying to get a girl to not only pay attention to him but invest in him. And then we have Cammie who is trying SO hard to play it cool.
Cammie has had a crush on Chase since she first saw him and yet he doesn't know she exists. She is the shy one between her and her sister. She actually has a side hustle of writing fan fic which is what she loves. So when there is a fire alarm at her dorm that creates a situation where she is sharing a room with Chase for the night- all bets are off. This is her legit fantasy. When she realizes that he is into her- she decides to let loose. Have fun. There are no strings. And yet the next morning Chase seems to linger and want to get to know her. It seems that there is more of an actual connection than she would have thought. He introduces her to his friends. He wants her number. She questions pinching herself to make sure she isn't dreaming. But parties and this life aren't really for her. And so maybe this thing between them just needs to live in that hotel room. Chase has different thoughts though. He likes how different they are. He wants to try this thing out. He asks for her patience since he hasn't really ever had a passion besides hockey- the question is will she give it to him?
Chase is living the dream. He is working towards getting drafted in the NHL. He has great friends on the team. He is with a different girl almost every weekend which now that he thinks about is kind of getting boring and old. He wants to meet someone who he can actually have a conversation with. Which is what happens when he ends up in a room with Cammie. Who apparently lives in the same dorm as him. Cammie who is really cute and funny and seems to slowly open up the more they talk. When he wakes up and needs to take of business, she surprises him by being more outgoing and showing him what she wants. They are all over each other. They are enjoying each other's bodies and company. He finds himself not wanting to leave her or the hotel. He wants to introduce her to people and hang out. But he can sense her pulling back. It takes his teammate giving him some advice to realize he wants to date her. He is going to mess this up. He has never done this before but he wants to give it a go for her. Now he just has to convince her that even though they are different they can make this work!
I would definitely recommend this one for a fun, fast paced sports romance. I loved the connection to the Terror series. The side characters were great! We get to see Tally in a new light since she is going to school here. We also get to connect that Cammie is Essie's sister (Essie being Rix's BF from If You Hate Me). We get to meet Tristan's brother. It was just fun seeing this next level of hockey stars making their way up. I also LOVED the fact that Cammie writes LOTR fan fic between Arwen, Legolas and Aragorn- nice touch Helena!
Thank you to PenPal PR and Helena for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
