Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life
by Bryan Lee O’Malley
Scott Pilgrim is a twenty-three-year-old hipster doofus living in Toronto, playing in a band called Sex Bob-Omb, sharing a bed with his BFF Wallace, and “dating” a seventeen-year-old high school student named Knives Chau. He doesn’t sound like a very likable guy, yet on paper in Scott Pilgrim Vol. 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life, a manga-style graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley, he’s absolutely charming in his utter obliviousness.

But then Scott’s friends and sister were sufficiently outraged and grossed out for me to get on board.
