This book delves DEEP into Lizzie’s backstory and trauma. Some are saying this book is too trauma heavy, however, as someone who has experienced some of these things discussed in the book, I believe it was very well written and made me feel seen in a way no other book has. That being said, I can definitely understand if this book is triggering for some people.

The author does a great job letting the reader into Lizzie’s mind and making the reader feel and understand what Lizzie is feeling. My two main criticisms are that certain themes come off as repetitive (variations of how Hugh can’t breathe or function without Lizzie) and the younger dialogue does not sound like the dialogue of young children.

In spite of that, this will always be a 6 star read for me due the content and excellent portrayal of these sensitive topics.
