People Person by Candice Carty-Williams

5.0

Reading this was an extremely fun and comforting experience. I initially thought it would be another narrative focused on the struggles of black people in Croydon, but it was sooo wrong. I think being able to relate to this book was what gave it such an oddly comforting feeling.

I loved the portrayal of imperfect characters. The cast in this book is refreshingly flawed, making them feel incredibly real and relatable. Each character adds their own unique qualities, which adds depth to the story. It was an absolute joy to follow their journeys and witness the dynamics within the family.

I was so emotionally invested in their experiences, and I found myself rooting for the entire family. From the eldest to the youngest sibling, I couldn’t help but genuinely care about each of them.

Overall, “People Person” is an amazing read that breaks away from stereotypes. It offers an intimate and heartfelt exploration of imperfect characters and the power of family unity. Candice Carty-Williams’ writing style kept me engaged throughout, and I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable read.
