Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton

4.0

A fitting title, because this book is a bit of a guilty pleasure. It's a popcorn book, not great, but entertaining. Most of that has to do with Anita's witty voice and how well the book is told.

It's obvious early on that this book is a little more mature than I usually like when they go to a vampire strip club, but I was too curious about her magic. (Which is different, but rather yucky.)

I don't normally read horror and this is a bit horror-y. There was a scene in the dungeon with rats that gave me the creeps. (And an almost attempted rape.)

All of the characters were really well done. Anita was your typical tough sarcastic heroine. (Maybe the one all the more recent books have copied.*) My favorite character was Edward. The sort of psychopathic ex-hitman vampire slayer.
