Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing

4.0

Alfred Lansing really knows how to write a story.  I didn't realise how attached I was to these men until I found myself tearing up over Shackleton's relief filled exclamation: "We've done it".  I was unsure of this book at first, but I'm very glad I stuck with it.  Truly an incredible read.

I did however make the mistake of reading reviews of Endurance before reading the book itself and was misled by the thrilling nature of the story.  I would say this narrative is more of a slow, detail filled journey as opposed to a page-turning thriller.  But that's my own fault, oops
