The Maiden & The Unseen by Jeanette Rose, Alexis Rune

4/5 stars

I’d like to thank Rose & Star publishing for providing me this ARC!

This was a quick and fun Hades & Persephone retelling, which I throughly enjoyed! Although, I have to admit it was more smut than plot, so if this isn’t your cup of tea then it’s best you steer from this book.

The book is dual pov, and sees Persephone end up working for Hades in order to get her money back. However, Hades soon realizes Persephone is his fated mate, his fated Queen, and also his prophecy and curse. He tries to pull away in order not to fulfill his prophecy, but alas one cannot stay away from his one true mate, and soon he finds himself in a passionate, steamy relationship with Persephone.

The smut scenes were extremely good and Persephone and Hades were sweet together, but I feel like the characters weren’t really developed or thought out and at times felt childish. Plus, the point was barely there and most times was pushed to the side to welcome more sex scenes.

Nonetheless, this was an easy and fun read and I find myself looking forward to its sequel!
