What the heck. For most of the book I thought this was a sweet and hopeful story about a lady, a small town, and football. It is all of those things but I absolutely did not expect my heart to be wrenched out like that. Backman has this wonderful talent of suffusing philosophical life lessons in the most mundane things, then pulling something out of the bag that'll leave you in tears.

I thought at times it was a little too sweet but no matter. I love the characters, the ending was perfect, and football was described so beautifully I could cry.
