Hidden Wings by Cameo Renae

The Plot. I thought that the idea for the book was quite brilliant, but the book wasn’t what I thought it would be like. There was a lot of loose ends that were left hanging at the end of the book and a cliffhanger that leads into the second book. While I liked the pace of the book, I felt like their were instances where the book got off track or places where it went by too fast. Also much of the book was very monotone and I felt like the emotions weren’t very deep or “believable” enough to really give the book any more stars. Otherwise I felt like the book was a fun read and I really enjoyed the twists and turns the book took. I loved how the author gave some hints on what was to come at the end of the book and I was kept guessing at what was to happen.
Emma. I liked Emma’s character because she didn’t automatically accept her surroundings, but she didn’t over dramatize her situation either. It was a nice balance that made the book more enjoyable. I really liked the characteristics that Emma was given. I felt like the attributes she was given complimented her setting and she wasn’t left lacking. I also really liked her interactions with the other characters and I felt that the way she saw herself was different from what everybody else saw.
Other. The other characters in the book were a little bit confusing. There was a lot of back and forth and I was never sure which character would act a certain way. I felt like they didn’t show a lot of emotion and wanted to get an idea of what they were going through and how they felt. Mostly I got a monotone vibe from the other book characters and was disappointed that there wasn’t a lot of heartfelt emotion.
Overview. All in all this book was a pretty fun read and I loved the twists and turns that were taken throughout the book. I was really surprised at the outcome of some decisions that were made and felt like the author did a good job of making this book a unique experience.
