The Valkyrie's Daughter
by Tiana Warner
Let’s call this a 3+ because I loved the first part. I loved the first half, the tension between Sigrid and Mariam, the Norse mythology reference (even though the audiobook narrator mispronounces Helheim every time). Sigrid is a bit of a brat but it fits with her character and she does grow significantly over the course of the story.
But once we reach Helheim, the pacing goes squirrelly. The turnaround time for training and then not going through with it was weird. Then there’s 3 battles that I’m pretty sure took place on the same day. And the tug of war with an artifact was borderline ridiculous.
But I would definitely pick up the next book and see where things go.
