Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty

emotional funny informative reflective sad medium-paced

The first Ask a Mortician video I watched was 11 (crazy) years ago so I expected to laugh and be well informed. I didn’t expect to cry as many times as I did. I adored getting to hear the full story of how Caitlin got to where she is now. I am someone who fears death but I am getting better (hopefully) and I love hearing her talk about it.

I loved the story of Matthew and Maureen and hope to find something that devastatingly beautiful one day. I loved the story of her walking into the Redwoods contemplating taking her own life, then deciding to live and walking out to someone that ends up saying “I'm so glad I met you.” I loved her return in the end. Those in particular made me cry the most
