M Is for Magic by Neil Gaiman

3.0

I felt strange giving this book 3 stars because I can imagine a version of me that would also give it 5 stars. Allow me to explain.

This is a collection of short stories written by Neil Gaiman, all of which are great, but most of which are readily available in other collections, and one of the short stories is also part of The Graveyard Book. This book is 3 stars if you've already read many Neil Gaiman short stories because there won't be a ton of new material for you here. If you're relatively new to Neil Gaiman, especially his short stories, this is definitely a 5 star collection. I described it to my wife as "a greatest hits album" of Neil Gaiman's short stories.

Definitely worth a read, but longtime fans may want to check which stories are contained within so they know how much of this book they've already read.
