Same points as a lot of other people, a lil' confusing at first just because I didn't do a re-read (I did a re-read on audio afterwards and wish I would have before). I did not find this to be a filler book at all but a good middle knowing it's a 5 books series. There's less "romance" but more love, but there's a lot more fantasy and world building that happens. I felt like Xaden and Violet were a lot less frustrating and have worked out their deal from Iron Flame, so there was less annoyance and made this book better overall.
What I do wish for was more focus on some important details that seemed to get glossed over. One example being that they get to the isle of Dunne and find that the priestesses had silver hair, like Violet's, and we did not focus enough on who, what, where, how, and why considering it was such a big part of her. The ending and epilogue though is the cliff hanger to end all cliffhangers and I have such a love/hate relationship, I thought it was well done with just enough mystery but now I have to WAIT.

Graphic: Death, Violence, War
Moderate: Grief, Fire/Fire injury
