Witches of America by Alex Mar

5.0

The one star reviews on here make me wonder if I was reading the same book.. the author is a journalist, so of course she approaches the subject from a journalistic and documentarian perspective. As a lifelong pagan I find her approach refreshing and informative of all the many variations of modern witchcraft in America. The witchcraft community, like any community, has some amazing people and some terrible, toxic people, and Mar illustrates them both. I find her approach to be unapologetically thorough, and that may make some people uncomfortable, I guess. I loved this book and regularly come back to it to reread passages.
