Kindred: A Graphic Novel Adaptation by Octavia E. Butler

3.0

A black woman from 1975 suddenly finds herself in 1815 through time travel - in a plantation that is owned by white people. Suddenly, she is considered a slave and she has to do whatever she can to survive.

While the premise of this book is interesting, I can’t help but feel that some of the effectiveness was lost in this format i.e. the graphic novel. I think some of the science and plot couldn’t be explained, and even though the novel is very vivid, I still feel like something was missing.

Really looking forward to read the full novel at some point.
