Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell

“Miss Jenkyns wore a cravat, and a little bonnet like a jockey-cap, and altogether had the appearance of a strong-minded woman; although she would have despised the modern idea of women being equal to men. Equal, indeed! she knew they were superior.”

This book follows the ladies of a small town in England called Cranford. It’s a story full of gossiping, talking and dipping in and out of the various lives of women in the town.
I though it was Delightful, and I found myself laughing out loud at some parts of this book! I loved Gaskell’s writing style, I though it flowed so nicely and was really engaging! I felt like I was amongst the ladies in Cranford.

I did find that during some parts of this book I was a little bit bored, but the writing style definitely made up for that! This book isn’t for everyone as nothing much really happens, it really is just a story about old ladies gossiping and drinking tea☕️... that sounds like the life!
