The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain
by Hannah Brown
emotional
funny
reflective
Sybil’s story is a delightful rom-com that had me grinning through my headphones. After being left at the altar, she jets off to Hawaii on honeymoon vouchers that were about to expire… only to run into her ex-fiancé Jamie at the resort. Mortified, she lies about having a boyfriend, and things get even messier when Sebastian, fiancé number two, shows up and plays along.
I’ll be honest: I usually struggle with miscommunication tropes, and this one leans into it hard. But I’m so glad I pushed through. Sybil’s journey from feeling lost and unworthy to truly accepting her worth was touching and empowering. It was wonderful to listen to her realize she deserves love and happiness on her own terms.
The audiobook narrator was fantastic — she perfectly captured Sybil’s vulnerability, humor, and resilience. I could practically feel the Hawaiian sun and hear Sybil’s internal pep talks. The performance brought every scene to life and made Sybil’s emotional arc feel real and relatable.
