I liked it more than I thought I was going to. I was worried because in the previous books of the series, the dynamic really works best when you have a changeling as one of the central pair (honestly, psy + changeling is best)... it just feels like without a changeling at the emotional core of the book, I didn't get very tied in.
But Max was largely treated like a changeling (so much so that). So it worked.
But more than that, it worked because while the primary couple themselves were ... lukewarm... I lovedthe forward movement on the overall plot. I loved the look into Nikita. I loved the tie-in with Sascha and Lucas (who are still my favorites). I loved the direction things are heading in the Net, and with the Psy Council. And I really can't wait to see where it goes!
