I liked Heather Dixon's writing, and I like the reimagining of the Twelve Dancing Princesses.. I got through the book very easily and in a few days, reading at work and whenever I could..

But there were a few things that bothered me.
I did not like that the King and his family were poor, penniless. I just always think that when you're part of a royal family, you have the riches to go along with it.

I loved the sisters.. all 12 of them..
Azalea, Bramble, Clover, Delphinine, Evening Primrose, Flora, Goldenrod, Hollyhock, Ivy, Jessamine, Kale and Lily. They each had their own personalities.. You got to know the eldest three more so than the younger ones, but each girl had some character development.

The Keeper was truly creepy. When Azalea felt like she wanted to know what it was like to kiss him, I felt disgusted because of his creepiness and I am glad she never really considered him as a love interest.

On "Love Interests", there were many. And how the sisters scared away potential suitors of Azalea was very funny. I think I liked Azalea's and Lord Bradford's romance the best. He didn't show up at the palace to win the riddle and just to become King like so many did. You felt that they had a connection from the moment they met at the Yuletide Ball. Bramble.. her romance with Lord Teddie, while I liked it well enough.. her yelling at him and refusing his advances because she thought it was charity, seemed very childish to me. I just didn't like that part of her character (even though I loved everything else about her - she is FUNNY!). Clover and Fairweller's romance was adorable. I wanted to root for her because she was so sweet and innocent, and Fairweller helped her overcome her shyness and her stuttering.

I would love to see what the "Silver Forest" looks like. I have such a vivid picture in my mind from Heather Dixon's description.

Also, the somewhat slow build up, did pay off. I read feverishly at the end. The Keeper remagicking the place and trapping the girls in the mirrors was entertaining.

So Thank You Heather Dixon for putting out an enjoyable read
