Nightbirds follows Matilde, Sayer and Aesa who are the Nightingale, Ptarmigan and Goldfinch that bestow magic with a kiss for a price. The Nightbirds live in a gilded cage and things start to unravel when their identities are revealed. I love the world that Kate Armstrong has built. The 1920s vibe in the era of Prohibition fits perfectly with this book where it is magic that is prohibited. I loved all 3 main character POVs, each has a distinctive  voice and I liked that each of their interactions outside of the Nightbirds was unique. You should also check out Kate’s podcast on the making of this book, Pubdates, with Amie Kaufman which adds to the whole experience.
