I really enjoyed the setup and wartime years. The real world inspiration is all very interesting (photojournalists/war correspondents Lee Miller, Martha Gellhorn, Iris Carpenter and more). Ultimately, wasn't very compelled by the modern day romance (love at first sight / whirlwind romance). I was disappointed by the end - the sheer number of layers of miscommunication required to keep Jess and Dan apart was irritating, especially since it depended on making Amelia comically hateful. Perhaps it is conceivable, but I found it irritating. I also wasn't expecting how sad the Jess / Dan ending would be, but I probably should have!
