Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World
by David Epstein
“Why articles should be written in a world of self actualization books.”
To be fair I do believe Epstein started with articles and research and evolved into writing this book. Overall it was interesting the notion isn’t new but it is for the most part countercultural.
Looking at previous reviews it would seem that self perceived generalists are drawn to this book in hopes of some form of affirmation. Which you’ll receive. But as far as helpful take aways and practices you’ll mostly receive “continue to be yourself”. Which is a great take away. So if that’s what you receive I hope the best for you.
I enjoyed hearing the underdog stories and the internal cry for more from myself. Leaving this book I am thankful it was as short as it was. And am hopeful for a more connected and open sourced world.
Cheers.
