This was an absolutely fabulous set of fairy tale re-writes! I loved every single one of the stories! It was a lot of fun to read a new and different version of some of the fairy tales I'd grown up with. They were either set in a different time or place or some had different characters. I especially liked Hansel and Gretel. They weren't siblings, but the love interests, and the story was so completely new and refreshing. I read one of them with my teenager and she loved it too. Such a great compilation of stories!
I thought the Beauty and the Beast story was very clever--the Beast was blind, she came to be a servant in his household to save her own. It had several similarities, but was all new in so many ways.
I even liked the Snow Queen story and those usually bother me. I don't know why. This one was sweet and interesting.
The story where the princess had brothers who were swans was set in the old West of America. Her love interest was half-Indian. That was a fun change.
The Red Riding Hood story was also very different and fun.
Anyway, you get the idea. I loved reading these books and I'll probably read them all again sometime!
