The German Wife by Kelly Rimmer
5.0

What an impactful book based in the lives of two very different women in two timelines. In the 1930’s timeline, Sofie finds herself, her husband, her children and her best friend who is Jewish, Mayim, facing the rise of Nazi ideology in Germany. At the same time, in Texas, Lizzie’s family is facing the loss of their family farm due to the Depression and the dust storms. How the background of these women effects their lives in the 1950’s as their stories merge in Huntsville, Alabama where Operation Paperclip brought over German scientists, many of them Nazis, to work on the space program. Lizzie’s brother served in WWII, and was still suffering from experiencing the liberation of Buchenwald. How can these two families coexist, or will it all blow up? I highly recommend this book, and the author, Kelly Rimmer. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC.
