Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald

Woah that was absolutely r i v e t i n g . The way the author makes the book cyclical got to me, and the way the book unravels like a dark mystery through fragmented pieces is amazing. Kind of reminds me of Findley's The Wars or of Durarara or Baccano which are animes lool - but this is much darker). I got so infuriated reading this cause idk you can just connect so easily to the characters even though you can't fully explain their thought process (except James, I hate his guts. I don't think I have hated any character as much as I hate him). This doesn't seem like something I'd reread cause it's just so heavy and there's so much trauma plaguing the characters that it affects me mentally to some extent, but I really just might later on cause the writing and storytelling is so captivating. So many insignificant-seeming objects or memories are brought back later on as motifs and it feels great to realize that lool.

idk whether to give 4 or 3 stars T.T writing was amazing but overall its kinda too h e a v y for my usual tastes hmmmm
