Overall a light read. The romance swings in hard and early (instant attraction, leads fall in love before any real chemistry happens).
Fantasy setting, with some small chunks of world building and a little bit of politics. Some dark themes - male lead isn't a good person, and doesn't really care about it by the end.
The plot wasn't completely predictable, but a number of plotlines were wrapped up in ways that felt rushed and contrived. The author did do a good job making sure all backstories were coherent and subplots resolved.
Enjoyed it, but not rushing to read other works from the author.
