A Cyclist's Guide to Crime and Croissants
by Ann Claire
Thank you Kensington Cozies and Cozy Mystery Book Club for the gifted book.
Leaving the Chicago suburbs and her reliable office job, Sadie strikes out on her own to make her dreams come true by buying a French bicycle tour company sight-unseen. When friends from her hometown arrive for a nine-day tour, Sadie is prepped with a well-planned itinerary. What she didn’t anticipate was one of them tragically dying.
This cozy mystery was the perfect book to pick up when I needed to take a break from reading about some pretty heavy topics. A CYCLIST’S GUIDE TO CRIME & CROISSANTS delivered a fun blend of travel and mystery in a fast-paced read that left me hungry for pastries. The characters were charming and I felt like I was actually bicycling along with them on the tour. The touring aspect was at the forefront a bit more than the mystery which might have been due to this being the first book of a series (with the intent to really establish the tour company setting). I’m looking forward to future books and am curious if the mystery will be more of the focus in those. Overall, this was a great cozy mystery read that I’d recommend to fans of the genre looking for a new series.
