I listened to the audiobook and read the author's note and interviews in the ebook. This was a beautifully crafted story that told of love, found-family, tragedy, and loss. It is amazing how the author, Ruta Sepetys, was able to impart the tragedy, fear, death, and loss of the people trying to escape before the Russian army comes through, without giving up hope, friendship, and love. Ruth was able to create the characters' emotions in such a way that you felt you were there with them, willing them to live. The narrators Jorjeana Marie, Will Damron, Cassandra Morris, and Michael Crouch were excellent. I highly recommend this book!
