I'm incredibly impressed by a lot in this book, in particular the strong narrative voice (especially for a debut). Jessica George strikes this unimaginably hard balance between showing Maddy to be almost laughably naive, but also at the same time constructing an understanding of how and why she got to be that way. Furthermore, this message that it's never too late to start advocating for yourself and your needs, even through this haunting and stark experience of grief, was really wonderful to read about.
Graphic: Grief and Death of parent
Moderate: Sexual content and Racism
