Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

5.0

2023 COMFORT REREAD UPDATE: Fifth or sixth time through this book. Laini Taylor, who tf are you? Still my favorite novel (not the best novel I’ve ever read, just my favorite) in terms of immersion (I get in so deep it’s dangerous for me to drive while listening to this audiobook), evoking emotional depths and complex mixes of emotions, and resonating with my SOUL. Truly unparalleled experience. Not here for the romance because it is ngl pretty instalove but I DON’T CARE. And the prose fits so perfectly with the content of the story I don’t want to hear anything about how purple it is. And my guy, Steve West, who narrates the audiobook really put himself out there and made an effort. It’s HAUNTING. I can see myself rereading this book yearly for the rest of my life.

PS: I recommended this to my mom and she said it was about “the blue children in the sky.” I’ll never forgive her.
