This was truly wonderful. Like a wholesome, heartwarming embrace to heal the soul.

This story follows Tova, night time cleaning lady at the local aquarium, mother to a lost son, wife to a deceased husband, and friend to a Giant Pacific Octopus. She is an incredibly strong and resilient woman, who is incredibly devoted and loyal to those she cares for.

Cameron is a young man struggling to find his way in the world, seemingly out of second (or third) chances. Unable to see past his lot in life, having been abandoned by his mother at a young age, he looks to track down his biological father in the hopes of getting a financial boon to get his life back on track.

While I do love both Tova and Cameron’s journeys, Marcellus, our Giants Pacific Octopus, really steals the show! I never thought I’d grow emotionally invested in a fictional octopus, but here we are!

This really is absolutely wonderful and endearing and I loved it.
