Real Murders
by Charlaine Harris
RATING: 3.5 STARS
After watching the TV show, True Blood, I knew I had to try the book series they were based on. I enjoyed them but didn't finish the series. Maybe because I read them too close together, but they were starting to blend into one another. I do want to finish the TV series, but after season 3 I got behind as I did not have HBO and had to wait till they were in at the library. In 2019 I watched the Hallmark TV movie based on book two ([b:A Bone to Pick|140093|A Bone to Pick (Aurora Teagarden, #2)|Charlaine Harris|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1307067211l/140093._SY75_.jpg|2654183]), and then the second movie based on this book. I enjoyed the cute fun movies so being the book nerd I am, I HAD to at least try the books!
I am glad I did, as I enjoyed this book. Aurora's personality comes more alive in the books as there is more time to explore the backgrounds of the characters. In the book, Aurora's father and half-brother are present and while Philip (the brother) is cute and vital to the ending of the book, I can see why they weren't in the movie. Some of the other characters have been changed around, and the storyline of Roe-Arthur-Lynn makes more sense in the books. I rated this book as a 3.5 instead of 4 is because while they are fun to read, there isn't much to them other than that. I would probably not re-read them again. I did this time, only because I was getting confused with the movie version and wanted to get it all straight in my head before continuing the series. This is one of the reasons I will read them all in one shot and before I continue with the movies.
*Rating and review are for both 2019 and 2020 reading of this novel
