The Homecoming by Harold Pinter

I read another book by this author before this one. "Caretaker". It was one of my texts. Then today I read this one and I had a hard time understanding the book. Confusion. That's what happened to me while reading the book, over and over again. I even read the analysis of the book later, then I understood a bit.

Marked just a few lines of this book. Here they go-

"Who cares? Listen, live in the present, what are you worrying about? I mean, don't forget the earth's about five thousand million years old, at least. Who can afford to live in the past ?"

And please don't get a wrong idea. It's not like that this book is not good or anything like this. I didn’t understand it at first go and for some reason this book got me thinking, thinking a lot actually. Whose homecoming it was actually? It can be seen in two ways. For Ruth. For Teddy. Whose it was actually?
