The Fortune Seller by Rachel Kapelke-Dale

4.0

I don't know absolutely anything about horses, but I do know a couple of things about class disparity, and this book seemed to do a good job of enveloping the reader in both subjects. I loved the way this was written, and I'll be checking out the author's other works. In lieu of a traditional review, I want to note my two favorite passage which, incidentally, lie quite near the beginning and the end of the book.

"I felt the solitude shiver over me. Not the solitude of an argentinian farm; the solitude of a Pampas deer surrounded by pumas who just hadn't noticed her yet."

"...a mare and a foal, yanked unwilling into the world and now learning what it was all about with each second. Delicate and tender and loved."
